As a former US Department of Housing and Urban Development employee, Knight brings technical experience and competence in both housing redevelopment and community revitalization.  She is a certified mixed-finance professional.  A graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Public Administration program and a highly awarded disaster recovery and rebuild professional, Knight has worked as BGC developer/consultant to secure over $600 million in financing sources in the past 4 years for public housing authorities converting through RAD.  These projects are in rural and urban areas across the south and southwest. These projects consist of both 9% and 4% tax credit projects as well as projects that needed to leverage debt only as part of their revitalization efforts. As a HUD Sustainability Subject Matter Expert, she has assisted numerous developments with redesign and financing.  Her experience with design, build and sustainable technologies assisted with her redevelopment of over 3,500 units of affordable housing in the Gulf Coast after Katrina and makes her an asset when working with HACT projects.

Phillips has over 30 years of affordable housing experience and 40 years of executive business management experience. Phillips will represent BGC Advantage for all business matters and negotiate any third-party reports required during the pre-development process. She is a certified tax credit management professional, compliance specialist, civil rights and fair housing specialist, and is a certified HR management professional. Phillips is experienced in compliance and reporting and will assist in document review and ensuring timely submissions to appropriate agencies.

With over 20 years’ experience in the affordable housing industry, Adrian Peterson-Fields has served in many capacities including Senior Auditor for HUD’s Office of Inspector General, Senior Quality Assurance Specialist out stationed for HUD, Division Director for the Office of Public Housing for HUD in the Birmingham, Alabama Field Office, and Chief Operating Officer for the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District. 

As Vice President of Operations and Strategy for BGC Advantage, Adrian will steer the company in three primary disciplines; 1) Finance 2) Development and 3) Asset Management. With a goal of transforming communities and changing outcomes for residents, Fields will implement a strong and sustainable financial platform, ensure compliance, and further position BGC Advantage as an industry leader in real estate development, management, and consulting. Under her guidance, Fields will cultivate high-performing employees through innovative career planning and will maximize positive impact for clients and communities through strategic partnerships.

Joann Rodriguez brings over twenty years of affordable housing experience with public housing authorities and private management companies to BGC Advantage. She will utilize her diverse background to assist BGC Advantage with monitoring long term asset performance. She brings a wealth of HUD knowledge regarding FHA finance projects, HUD multi-family rental assistance, and 202/PARC/ 811 projects. Rodriguez’s HUD and public housing experience has given her a better understanding and appreciation for PHA managers with small and large housing needs. She has assisted numerous entities in RAD, HOPE VI, and other tax credit developments. She was also responsible for $144 million annually in housing assistance contracts. In addition, she serves as trainer for the Texas Housing Association, specializing in HUD, Rural Housing, HOME, NSP, and tax credit programs.

Wilson has over 20 years of finance, credit underwriting, and affordable housing experience. Her depth of knowledge as an underwriter and providing cost certification will provide invaluable assistance in completing and submitting low-income housing tax credit applications. Wilson has performed a variety of advanced financial analyses to determine present and forecasted financial health of the projects and entities. Her financial and tax credit consulting experience brings a holistic approach to the team. She has submitted assisted in submitting and consulted on over 6000 units of affordable housing and low-income housing tax credits. She is a certified tax credit professional and has a HCCP Certified HOME and Fair Housing Certification.

Katie will be working closely with RAD projects and small PHA conversion efforts to help entities convert from the public housing platform to affordable housing. She will be assisting agencies with training, education on policies and processes as well as PHA conversions. Her experience as an executive director of a housing authority and her low income housing tax credit experience are fields that will lend to her interaction with housing authorities, housing agencies, investors, lenders, and community representatives. She is recognized nationally as an expert training provider and will continue to provide those services . Katie will continue to be available as a NAHRO trainer as well as enhancing the suite of training options that BGC provides.

Amber Self brings over ten years of architectural and interior design experience to BGC Advantage. Self joins BGC with over ten years of architectural design, sustainable construction and interior design experience. She will utilize her diverse background to assist BGC Advantage with activities that range from the renovation of existing buildings and land use planning, to the management of construction phases and design projects. Self will assist BGC clients with implementing green and sustainable products that have energy paybacks and offer lower maintenance costs and lower utilities.
